SR1120 LE-UWB™ Wireless Transceiver IC

The SR1120 is SPARK’s second-generation LE-UWB™ transceiver for designs that require higher data rates, extended range, and multi-antenna support. It delivers ultra-low latency and ultra-low power in a 4 mm × 4 mm QFN32 package for applications that have traditionally required wired connections.

Overview

Engineered for the wire-free edge

Ultra-low power

The SR1120's aggressively duty-cycled architecture achieves orders-of-magnitude better energy efficiency than conventional IoT wireless solutions.

Active receive: 0.34 mA/Mbit/s. Active transmit: 0.10 mA/Mbit/s. Deep sleep: 920 nA. Shutdown: 55 nA.

Enables energy-harvesting configurations and reduced battery size across wearables, peripherals, and sensors.

Ultra-low latency

The SR1120 provides 25 µs airtime for a 1 kbit payload. Its scheduled-access mechanisms are designed to support repeatable timing within variable RF and network conditions.

Enables wireless implementations for systems that were traditionally only achievable with wires.

Robust coexistence

Frequency hopping and listen-before-talk protocols enable seamless operation alongside BLE, Wi-Fi (2.4, 5, and 6 GHz), USB 3.0, and cellular.

Dynamic spectrum shaping ensures compliance with international UWB emission limits.

Low-cost integration

Single 32.768 kHz external crystal. High-efficiency PCB antenna with no external antenna component required.

Standard SPI and Quad-SPI interfaces for straightforward MCU integration. 4 mm × 4 mm QFN32 footprint minimizes board area.
UWB Regulation

Worldwide regulatory coverage

The SR1120's 6.2–9.5 GHz band coverage is designed to address UWB regulatory requirements across most major markets worldwide. Its broad frequency coverage enables customers to develop a common hardware platform targeting worldwide certification, simplifying product development and deployment across multiple regions.

SPARK's Worldwide UWB Regulations document provides a detailed breakdown of regional frequency allocations and applicable standards.
